Distortional Rhythm

October 11 - December 21, 2019

Twentieth is pleased to present new and exclusive work from London-based artist, Julian Mayor for an exhibition at THE NEW. Mayor is known for his innovative process where he digitally designs his pieces and then hand-makes each one using traditional techniques such as TIG welding. The weld seams are left unfinished, allowing a viewer to experience and understand the craft. Mayor’s technique is inspired by the sculptural possibilities of a high-tech approach while also embracing the idiosyncrasies and individuality of the hand-made. Welded sculptural works were created exclusively for this exhibition including both standing and hanging light sculptures, large wall pieces and more; all made using a range of metallic finishes.
