SkLO was founded by husband-and-wife design team Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak, along with visionary Pavel Hanousek.

For Karen and Paul, SkLO represented an opportunity to bring their shared philosophy about craft to life, utilizing each of their unique skills. Karen is an acclaimed craft artist and metalsmith, with hands-on work that integrates glass, and Paul is a trained and practicing architect with a commitment to material honesty, process expression, and the importance of restraint. They insure every SkLO product is crafted with a deep appreciation for the richness of its organic materials and historical craft traditions.
