Jan Ernst is a multi-disciplinary creative based in Cape Town, focusing on collectible design. He holds a Master’s Degree in Architecture from Nelson Mandela University in South Africa and Ramon Llull in Spain.

After working in corporate architecture, he co-founded Studio AN, a creative platform for architecture and interior design. Through his ceramic designs, he aims to create conversation driven by organic forms and negative spaces while bringing people together with the narrative quality of his work.

Using clay as his main medium, the work is driven by his fascination with natural structures such as corals, fungi, and rock formations. His organic designs stem from his abstract understanding of form and space influenced by his background in architecture, connection with the natural world, and South African heritage.
